Mauro Vannucci Il Sasso Piaggia 2018 Super Tuscan - Before Angelo Gaya decided to break all the rules and go it his own way to fabulous fame fortune and rather ( expensively ) beautiful wines, there was the town of Carmignano. Already blending the Sangiovese grapes with Bordeaux Varietals this DOCG wine ( that normally would be under the IGT platform) was way ahead. Supremely balanced and able to stand its own against the great IGTs of Tuscany this is a steal and well worth a look before you break the bank

Girolamo Russo Etna Rosso 'a Rina 2017 Nero Mascalese - The Etna Region of Sicily has gained notable acclaim largely due to this Producer and others like him who make superb wines from the norello Mascalese grape grown quite literally on the sides of a rather active volcano. This gives the vines amazing scope to pull the mineral-rich soils into the fruit. Lean, bright and so delightful this etna Rosso will pair well with red meats, oily fish such as mackerel, langoustine/lobster in tomato sauce, or robust p
