Mauro Vannucci Il Sasso Piaggia 2018 Super Tuscan - Before Angelo Gaya decided to break all the rules and go it his own way to fabulous fame fortune and rather ( expensively ) beautiful wines, there was the town of Carmignano. Already blending the Sangiovese grapes with Bordeaux Varietals this DOCG wine ( that normally would be under the IGT platform) was way ahead. Supremely balanced and able to stand its own against the great IGTs of Tuscany this is a steal and well worth a look before you break the bank

Ridge Pagani Ranch 2018 Zinfandel - Pagani ranch was first planted in the 1880s by Felice Pagani. These extremely old vines produce some of the most charismatic, exotic, and age-worthy Zinfandels. Robust dark fruit, subtle spices, and bright acid from the tiny crops that the old vines produce. A beautiful example of modern-day Zin!

Fableist 2018 Zinfandel - This is not your big and bold Zinfandel such as those coming from Dry Creek. This Paso Robles bottling is Medium to full-bodied with purple and black fruit, just the right amount of oak to support the full fruit but not enough to overthrow the elegance and vibrant palate. I implore you to try this as a zin fan or as someone who walked away from the heavy-handed zins that we see so much of.

Scopetone Brunello di Montalcino 2013 Sangiovese - What a truly unique, beautiful, and stand-out Brunello. I've found lately that Brunello seems to be a little homogenous, the Scopetone takes me back to Brunellos in the '90s with beautiful leathery cherry and funky nose in the glass, floral pipe smoke and cherry, roasted herbs, and rosemary on the palate. The minerality and tannins give this wine a very stern structure and with minimal winemaker influence, the wine sings across the palate in a chewy satisfa
